Creating the Perfect Fathers Day Gift Baskets

Fathers Day gift baskets are the perfect way of letting dad know that you care.  Going so much further than the traditional tie or tool, and being so much more imaginative than the so easily given gift card, Fathers Day gift baskets speak of love, appreciation, respect, and sometimes also jokingly poke some gentle fun at dad.  After all, the day is not just for seriousness, but also for some fun, laughter, and a good time all the way around.  Find out how to put together the perfect baskets with little effort, and how to make dad feel like a million bucks!

Fathers Day gift baskets are gaining more and more popularity as some of the more proverbial gifts are falling into disrepute.  After all, who still wants to give dear old dad a tie, tool, or a gift card?  Sure, perhaps your dad loves each and every one of these items, but by themselves they are somewhat bland, lacking imagination, and are overall just stereotypical; however, put them together in some Fathers Day gift baskets, add clever cards, and perhaps a few other items, and you are sure to have struck gold!

While there are prepackaged Fathers Day gift baskets, they do not usually hold that which you know your dad will love.  As a matter of fact, they are so unspecific as to be generic, and they are a testament to quick grocery store shopping before stopping off by dad’s house rather than skillfully combing that which you know dad loves and cherishes with that which you wish for him to have.

For this reason, truly well put together Fathers Day gift baskets need to be crafted for the individual dad with him and his hobbies in mind. Here are some suggestions:

• For the athletic dad, consider a subscription to his favorite sports magazine; it will make a welcome addition to the basket. As a matter of fact, keep it as specific to the sport your dad enjoys to engage in as possible. Add to this a gift card to the sports store that caters to his favorite sport – this may be a golf store, a runner’s store, or any other kind of store that carries equipment or paraphernalia he will need to enjoy his sport. Round out the basket with a book on the sport - perhaps a coffee table book – and maybe also some snacks that go along with it.

• For the spiritual dad, books or books on tape are a great hit!  Videos are a wonderful addition, as is a subscription to an archaeological or spiritual magazine that caters to his form of belief.

• For the couch potato dad, consider his hobbies; quite possibly he enjoys television, sports, and the occasional brew with good friends.  Why not add a beer sampler to the basket, a subscription to a sports channel he does not yet have on his cable system, and maybe even a magazine subscription to his favorite sports magazine.

As you can see, there is no shortage of great ideas with which to stuff your father’s gift basket for his special day! So go ahead and let your imagination run wild and tailor a basket to your dad’s own personality.  It will be as unique as your dad, and your thoughtfulness will be greatly appreciated.
